Every job application starts with sample resume writing. Resume writing is a daunting task, and most people don’t know where and how to start. It pays to do all the right things to get your resume noticed.
Here are a few tips to writing an effective resume: • Use a sample resume as the basis of writing your resume. Formatting is important to keep your resume feeling light and easy to read. Use bullet points instead of constructing your resume in paragraph form. • Do some research before constructing your resume. Have a chronological format, including your personal information, contact details, skills, job experience, references, etc. • Make use of strong keywords, and construct sentences in active voice rather than in passive. • Include the relevant information only. If you are applying for an engineering position in NASA, no one cares that you won a basketball championship in 6th grade. Stick to information relating to the job you are applying that will interest your employer. • Proofread your resume at least twice! Check for any errors on spelling, syntax and grammar—these mistakes are huge turn offs for employers. Ask a friend of yours to read your resume and ask for insightful critic on your resume.
