Different Types of Sample Resume

There are different types of sample resume, each applicable from whatever type of job opening you are applying for.

It depends on your personal preference and the type of job whether you choose a chronological, functional, targeted, combination, or the mini resume. A chronological sample resume lists your work history. It starts with your most recent position—thus it is listed in reverse chronological order. Many employers prefer the chronological resume because it is easy for them to see the jobs you’ve held and how long you’ve worked for them.

A functional resume focuses on your skills and achievements rather than your work history. This is a better type of resume to use especially if you often change careers or have gaps in the employment history. A targeted resume highlights your experience and skills and make it relevant to the job you’re applying for. However, the targeted sample resume takes time to write but it’s definitely worth the effort. If you are confused what type of resume to use, you can combine both qualities and make use of the combination resume. This type of sample resume lists your qualifications and experience first, followed by your job experience history. You can highlight your skills and at the same time, provide the chronological history employers may want to see. Finally, the mini resume is a summary of all your qualifications, all written in one page only. Some employers prefer only a brief overview of your qualifications rather than a full length resume.
